Santa Coming To Caldwell Flowerland & Holiday Treasure Hunt on Sat, Nov 24th

Saturday, November 24, 2012 - 10:00am

Sponsored by the Caldwell Merchants Association, Santa will arrive at Caldwell Flowerland at 10am on Saturday, November 24, 2012 in an antique Studebaker and will stay until 2 pm. Pictures with Santa will be taken by Alex Rodrigues of W8 Photography, 127 Roseland Avenue Caldwell and can be purchased for $30.  Alex will set up a portable photography studio inside Flowerland.  As expected, some children may be a little apprehensive at approaching the jolly old Santa, but Santa is very accommodating.  Last year Santa even got down on the floor to make them feel more comfortable! Pets are also welcome to have their picture taken with Santa. The pictures will be available the same day at The Frame Shop/Lovely Living Interiors and may be framed there also. Christmas cards will also be available by special order. Parents can also take their own photos.

New this year is the Holiday Treasure Hunt in downtown Caldwell. Starting at 10 am at Flowerland, children will be provided a list of stores where Santa Gnomes may be found ( the Santa Gnomes will be easily spotted as soon as you open the front door of the shops). Find four Santa Gnomes in four shops, have the shop initial that you spotted the Santa Gnome, and then receive a prize at the Park Street, Caldwell kiosk ( on Bloomfield Ave in front of Vila Meats and next to Buy Rite Liquor store). Santa's Elves will be handing out the prizes at the kiosk. More information at Flowerland on the 24th, or call 973-364-1124.

Once again the generosity of Karen and Frank Delli Santi, owners of Caldwell Flowerland make the event possible.  Giving up much of their own Thanksgiving to transform their beautiful space into a holiday wonderland is a special holiday gift to the community.  Thanks also to the volunteers from the Caldwell Merchants Association who donate their time to staff the event.  As one of our volunteers said, “It's worth sitting here just to see the expression on the childrens' faces when they see Santa.”  A very special thank you to Garrett Jones, whose patience and good humor always make the day.

Many local shops will be staying open until 8pm on the Thursdays between Thanksgiving and Christmas to give shoppers extra time to make purchases locally.   The Caldwell Merchants Association slogan says it all. “Shop Local, Dine Local, Be Local” helps our communities thrive.
